Thunder Run

There was a bit of a ruckus this morning, although I didn’t see it.  However I was able to hear it from across the house.  There was a sound like galloping horses that started upstairs and went down and around and ended in a hissing from someone.  I could see Gus right with me so he wasn’t involved.

When I got to the overlook I could see in the living room below that Calla was down under her little table and Julius was there a foot away looking at her curiously.  She didn’t seem to be too scared or mad.  I think most of the noise was Julie tearing around and somewhere in the process he chased or startled Calla, hence he hiss and retreat to a safe place.

I don’t think he was chasing her intentionally, although it has happened a time or so in jest.

Julie has been doing those runs more frequently these days, but in the other cases I was at the end of the run to see it.  He comes flying down the stairs, often runs in a big circle downstairs and sometimes ends with a plunge through the cat door to the garage.

I think he’s getting a bit stir crazy with the poor weather.

I know how he feels – we’ve had nothing but rain either, for months. Spring’s on the way, Julie!

  2. MOL, Star does that after she’s been to the litter box… I wonder if she’s trying to escape the stinkies? Sometimes Leo can’t stand it, he thinks it looks like great fun and he will try to join the chase, it never ends well. But he usually ducks under something so Star can continue to do her fun run.
    Lovely pictures as usual!

  3. The Three Moggies have mad fits on windy days LOL :-)

I am always amazed at how loud the galloping of such a small animal — with padded feet, no less — can be. We don’t even have stairs, so that keeps down the length of the run, there’s always a short pause while they turn around.

It is a similar gift to the one where they can sit on you as light as a feather or walk on you and make you feel like each paw is a spike puncturing your body…depending on the mood.

Cats control gravity, I’m sure of it. At least the gravity in their immediate area. They can be light or heavy, land on their feet, stalk quietly or sound like a horse. Gravity control is the only logical answer.

Only in sci-fi do humans have artificial gravity control. Cats are born with it.
