I have a lot more Julie pictures and stories these days it seems. He seems to be hanging out closer to home and coming in sooner. Perhaps it is the weather, or him mellowing out.
This picture was just after he came in from outside, a prime time for neck biting from Gus. I heard Gus making the characteristic meows he makes when he is going to lick or bite and looked over….
Could Gus be good twice in a row?
Turns out, he could! Attaboy Gus!
One problem with Julie and pictures is that he’s either sprawled out asleep, or facing away on ‘sentry duty’, or moving off to a new spot. I think this is one of the few times I’ve got him inside when he’s in ‘full cat’ mode. It’s a beefcake shot!
He’s the only cat I’ve ever had where the vets can never say “He needs to lose weight” or “He needs to gain weight”. You can tell they find it annoying.
Speaking of weight, I had bought some Fancy Feast dry a while back to try to get Gus to eat more when he was getting over his infection. Julie and Calla were big fans of that, liking it better than the other dry food that I have. I ran out a couple of days ago and had to endure some reproachful looks from the two of them. Calla made a point of leading me to the particular bowl every morning and giving me a sad eyes look over it.
Well I gave in and got another bag. And Gus does get some of it, so it might help him gain some weight. I’m sure that’s why they were so insistent!
I even got him to play with the camera strap! You can see one claw hooked into the string and another on the ready. Note the nose crinkle as he chomps down.

Wow! Beefcake Julie! Look at his wonderful markings!
And good boy Gus, not going for the vampire thing twice in a row! Getting sweet in your old age?
Well, of course Calla was just looking out for Gus’ good health when she demanded the yummy foods… why would she be thinking about anything else??
You know it’s funny, it seems like most of the cats I’ve had since adulthood have been overweight, at lest a little, and some profoundly, but the two I have now are at perfect weights for their sizes and show no inclination to gain, even with the addition of evening snacks which no other cat here has had because I used to be extremely against canned food.
Defiantly, a stud-muffin of a cat! Love that Julius!
Love that last shot. Maybe Julie has an irresistible “outside” smell on him when he comes in.
