Novel Places and Things

There has been a real cold snap here the last few days and possibly not coincidentally Calla has found a new spot on the back tree to sleep in.  This is the bottom basket, with a flat roof right overhead that might make it more snug than the other spots.

I got this cat bed/cat cave from the The Felt Gallery Etsy Shop.  I love the color and the feel of it.  It came all the way from Lithuania.  The opening has an immediate attraction for the cats, although this one looks to be a bit too small for them to fit into…against their will anyway.

When they want to go in, well, who can say?

It can be smushed into a bowl shape, but for now everyone is entranced into poking their head and shoulders inside.  In just the last half hour Julius has, Calla has twice, and Gus too a few times.  My cats are all over 10 pounds and pretty large.  A smaller cat or kitten could get in easily.

I tossed a toy or two and some loose catnip in there to encourage them more.

  1. That first photos made mum laugh. Looks so fed up lol :-) xxx

  2. Awesome eye level picture of beautiful Calla! What a neat looking sack/bed! I can’t wait to see if anyone gets all the way in!

I may or may not have gotten a good portion of Calla and Julie into it, tail first without too much stress. If a lawyer calls, I deny everything.

You can special order somewhat larger ones, apparently.

How cute and what an amazing bed. Here Down Under it is the opposite, having some repreive from a heat-wave of 7 days over 37 degrees Celsius (whatever that is in Fahrenheit). Our cat Shandy has a long fur coat and is fed up with the heat here. Thanks for sharing.

That looks way too small for Julie! He could wear it as a beret! Fashionable, warm, easy to spot at night.

  5. Looks like a great bed if it were to fit. Too funny that they try anyway :D

It can be turned into a cup shape if in the end they decide not to go in. But they seem to like peeking inside a lot, so there’s that to consider.

What a cool idea! And warm and snuggly, too. Some cats are burrowers, others not so much.

  7. Video is a MUST…if the crew decides to inhabit the bed. It looks very nice and cosy.
