Before any of the other cats came out I had a little fun with Julie. I love the look of concentration on his face here…and it was only a smidge later that he was all over that camera strap.
Julie is hard to capture down on the rocks since his instinct is that someone needs to be on watch at all times. He points himself facing the other way.
The other day Lurkertype was saying that a picture of Julie looked like Fizzgig from the movie “Dark Crystal“. It turns out that Calpurnia does the best imitation, never before caught on film… Fizzgig.
She doesn’t yawn like that often when anyone’s about, and luckily this camera is a bit quicker about taking the photo once you hit the shutter, at least it seems so. It is a tad off because I had to do a quick pan over and snap before it was all over with. And crop it to show here. But that’s what is nice about 14 megapixels, you have a lot to toss away.
This is what I was talking about…Julie on guard duty. At least Gus will turn around when I make stupid noises. Julie won’t.
Remember the other day when I mentioned Gus being driven off the bed by Calla? Well this morning, early on, I woke up and stayed in the dark. Pretty soon Gus came up and took his common position in the crook of my arm with his head on my shoulder and started purring.
A bit later who should come up the steps onto the bed behind him but Calla? She stood behind him, then moved over a bit and walked up onto my stomach and stood there. Gus was still purring and facing the other way, and she poked her nose into him a time or two.
I was a little worried that if they had a spat this was all about six inches from my eyeballs so I kept Gus from turning around just in case. But he kept purring for a few minutes more, and then he got up to leave and Calla jumped off the far side of the bed too.
It might have only lasted a little bit but I’ll take that sort of interaction any time I can.

Ok, that story about Gus and Calla in your bed… you’re going to have to pardon this response.. AWWwwwwwWWWWWW! Too sweet! and I’m glad you got to keep your eyeballs!
Julie seems like he’s always an intense cat!
Fizzgig Calla!!! Wow, what a big mouth! Be afraid, boys, be very afraid! MOL
Gus is just to cute. Is he laying in one spot long enough to get dusty or is that nip debris?
awwwww…… And hooray for non-clawed eyeballs!
I so see the Fizzgig Calla resemblance..
Makes you wonder if Jim Henson had a doll-faced Persian.
Welcome to the blog!
OMG, the resemblance is uncanny. I remember that movie from my youth!
Love that shot of sleeping Gus.
