Cat in the Hand

When I first looked at this cat tree a few years ago I wasn’t sure exactly how they would take to these half-pipe platforms, but they have really been popular with all the cats.  They all like the feeling of being partly enclosed but not held, like being cupped in a pair of giant hands.

It’s good for a little touch up cleaning since there are no worries of falling off the edge.  Even Julius in full wriggle display hasn’t managed it.

Of course once you clean up, you’re too tired to go and do anything but sleep.

I like that kitty tree design. The curled edges are a good safety feature for those kitties who a re inclined to roll at the top of the tree. My Chun once took a tumble off a tree due to vigorous rolling.

Its a pretty compact one as well – one U at about shoulder height to me, one at about the height of the end table and then the floor. Scratch areas of carpet, bare wood, and sisal rope for whatever your cat’s taste is. Fits well next to the armchair that I watch TV in so two cats can be close at once, but it doesn’t dominate the room too much like a huge tree might.

Even Gus used to be able to get to the top from the back of the armchair, although he hasn’t done so for a while now. Calla and Julius are better climbers/jumpers than he is.
