Stir Crazy?

The shut in days are starting to get to everyone, a little.  Yesterday Julius, after watching a little television — it was a Beatrix Potter animated television show, perhaps the singing rats got hm stirred up — took off on a magnificent sprint around the house.  He went up the stairs, into one of the rooms there, then back down in a flash and all the way through the kitchen and ended by diving through the cat door into the garage.

Then he was fine the rest of the evening.

Even Calpurnia was getting frisky.  Yesterday I came near her from the down side of the bannister and tried to pet her. She swatted at my hand, boxing with both front feet, then rushed over to the nearest stair and dug at the carpet.  She capped it off by rushing upstairs herself. No claws on my hands, she’s very good that way.

So today to try to expend some energy I brought out the evil shoestring for some combat. Here she teaches it a lesson – I love the fierce look in the eyes as she gets the string.

Not the best framing, but I didn’t expect him to go so high for the string.  Gus tends to snap at the string with his teeth instead of grabbing at it with his paws.  He makes a pretty loud smack when he does, too.

Nice to see them all having fun! I should get out my string toys for the Miaos.

I like Julius’ choice of viewing material. I haven’t watched Beatrix Potter in ages.

When they jump up like that out of the blue and rush off somewhere, I always imagine they just remembered a very important meeting they must be attending!
