Treat Hunters

This is a first – I’ve seen yellow eyes but the right one is leaking out over the rim out of the black pupil!

I accidentally came up with a new game the other day – I was trying to be nice to Calpurnia after the haircut and put down some treats for her in areas where she usually sat, but she decided to go upstairs instead.

A little while later Julie came in from outside and caught a hint of the treats from across the room.  A little triangulation and he was able to find all of the dropped treats on the shelves I put them on.  I don’t think he missed any.

I put up a second set in a few different places but Julie was finished playing.  However, when Calpurnia came downstairs again later, I heard some crunching and she had managed to find most of the ones I left for Julie.

This morning Calpurnia was on the bed again after I got out of the shower.  When I sat down on the bed next to her, she rolled her front half sideways and her head almost upside down, which is her happy signal.

It reminded me of after her very first cut, when she rolled for me after it in her isolation room to show me how good it felt to not be hobbled by those terrible mats she had when I got her.

  1. They’re playing ‘trade the treat!’ I love it! Too bad you didn’t get a picture of her rolling over, that would be too cute!

Pumpkin-eyed Gus, very eerie! And yet, mesmerizing.
