Glare Wars

When I looked at today’s pictures I saw that Calla was practicing her fierce glare.  Could it be that she was ready to challenge the champion?

While she practices, I have a Julie story to tell.  On Garbage Day morning I was taking the bits of the shelf unit from the back yard to the garbage can and Julie got out and went over the wall.  I sure hated the idea of leaving him out all day while I was at work.

Luckily, I saw that he was taking a drink from his water dish, also known as the pool.  So I grabbed a bag of treats and shook it over the wall.  He perked up and came right back over the wall for me.  He got his treats for that.

So lets see how the champ is doing…

Hmm…now that’s a glare!  And a claw along with it!

Calla thinks she needs a wee bit more practice.

Which Greek monster could kill with a glare? Was it a basilisk? Or possibly a gorgon, but I have a feeling that you turned to stone if you looked at a gorgon. Neither was a healthy option, I guess. The first pic of Calla started me thinking about this! So cute, yet so fearsome! 🙂

Medusa, one of the Gorgons, could turn you to stone if you met her gaze. Perseus had to use a reflective sheld to see so he could cut her head off.

Apparently the Basilisk works similarly – although the first description is by a Roman.

  3. There’s a glaring omission in the glare-down! Does Julie ever glare? I have a feeling he’s more laid back, no?
Calla could glare you dead from fifty paces! She’s got that down pat! Gus glares, but not as menacingly to my mind. Or maybe he just wasn’t as irritated as Princess Puffball there, MOL
Sounds like you have julie trained to come to the treat shake, good work!

She gets an A for effort but Gus wins in my opinion 🙂
