Almost Ten Years

I suppose it started with this lovely lady cat.  In a post from last year I renamed her ‘Aurelia‘…which is the name of Julius Caesar’s mother.  This is my Julius Caesar’s mother, taken a few day or weeks before I adopted him.  There really is quite a family resemblance in the body type and how she carries herself, that overrides the difference in the hair length and the dilute color.

She belonged to a co-worker and he was trying to give away kittens.  I had had enough problems adopting one from the Petsmart stores in the area and eventually would again. He gave me these pictures on disk to show me the kittens before I went out to meet them.

The fur patterns are also very close if not identical,  Julius is the one on the left.

It had been months since Cassie died, and I was ready enough for another tabby cat, so I looked at the pictures and was most interested in this kitten, although the word was that it was a girl cat.  I was actually leaning that way, since my first three cats were all female.

I hadn’t chosen for sure, and I was ready for one of the others to make a greater impression if they could.  The chances were a little greater when I got there and found out that Julius was a male.

Julius' Mom and Family

(not my legs)

I’m pretty sure this is Julie on the left again.

Friday will be the ten-year anniversary of his ‘Got ya’ Day.

    They’re so beautiful! 😀

  2. I can see why you picked him, he was an adorable little mite! Before I read which kitten was him, I was looking and trying to guess, I picked the far left one! MOL
His momma was very pretty, no wonder he’s so adorable.

Aurelia is a lovely cat! Julie was (and still is!) just adorable.

  4. Hi I love your photos!
Can I have permission to take the top photo of your cat and put her on my Photo Corner Page with Tammy, Shyna and Dessie?
All you have to do is send me your cats name! I will put a link on the photo of your cat to your blog.

The cat in the top most picture is my cat Julius Caesar’s mother. I call her “Aurelia” now because that was the name of the historical Caesar’s mother. She belonged to a former co-worker.

You can use that one, or any others to put on your page. The names of my three cats are Julius Caesar (the tabby), Gustavus Adolphus (the black and white) and Calpurnia (the Himalayan Persian with white).

Love it. Happy decade. Latin for “decided; having chosen.” NOT. Fooling wit ya.

Happy anniversary to you and Julie. His mother’s pose in that first one really looks like him on alert.

Now I know where Julie got his classic tabby markings. It is nice to know that from kittenhood he had a good life.
