This morning there was a huge crow striding around the back yard on the rocks, cawing every so often. I’m not sure what he was doing there. If he was after the snails that would be good.
I just recalled that on the way back down the ridge towards home on Saturday there was another bird. This was a large one, a hawk. It was dead, head down in the shrubs at the base of a three along the road. Its tail was straight up, spread like a fan and the size of my hand with fingers outspread. The wings were fanned out slightly like the V of an arrow point.
It must have fallen out of the tree when it died.
But this evening there were no birds around the house.
No birds is good for the kitties! Maybe Julie’s display of fang finally got through to their little bird brains!

Sounds like you do have some annoying birds! I am wondering what happened to the hawk, though.

If it weren’t for all the houses and major roads, but a wilderness you might think it was a border marker for the “Hawk Tribe” or something.
