It was very hot today, which is best handled by not exerting yourself very much.   The cats are taking it even farther and sleeping each in their own corner of the room, all catching a bit of the shuttle fan as it pivots from side to side.

When the afternoon slides to evening, the relatively high altitude means it cools off fast and then you can open things up and catch some of the breezes from the sea.

This angle is a good spot because the tree on one side and the house on the other gives some shade at this time of day.  And the cat can see down both angles of the yard for anything coming.

A bit later I came out and she had settled down to another favorite resting place in years past…in the open dirt next to the rocks.  If I clear out some of the crabgrass on the side she would probably sit there too.

Poor furry Calla, you can see the exasperation in her cute face. All that fur too, not a happy kitty. A “doggone” look perhaps? Beautiful photos anyhow. It is the opposite weather here Down Under – quite cold but not too much rain – yet. I heard of a friend’s cat here once hopping into her Fridge one hot summer Down Under, to cool down. That would give her a surprise – a Kit Kat, haha. Hope the weather cools down soon for your kitties.

None of mine have done that from the heat. I did put a cool washcloth on Gus a few days ago which he didn’t mind. Calla’s trick is that she grooms a spot on her belly pretty thin in the spring, so she can get cooling by sitting flat on something cool.

Is Calla due for a trim soon?

  5. Calla is such a beautiful subject anywhere! But boy, she’s really trying to guilt you into working in the yard isn’t she? the other day it was overgrowth on her little wall and now it’s her dirt patch and crabgrass! That last picture especially she’s really giving you ‘the look’!
