I got home late today so there were no outside pictures. Nobody went outside.
Instead, for some adventure I started up the Roomba robot I got a while back. It is pretty spooky listening to it bump around upstairs, especially when it climbs up over a bath scale or lamp base and thunks down.
The cats don’t seem to mind its noise from downstairs – not like the big sweeper. It seems to avoid getting trapped in corners and usually it turns about at the top of the stairs. A few times it got ‘stuck’ at the top and turned itself off.
Its dirt bag is pretty small but I figure that if it gets run regularly it will catch up to the stuff left under the bed and such.
This morning I ran it when Calla was sitting on the bed and she was pretty interested in it when it ran under the bed and back out. Eventually she gave it some space and wandered off to let it run around in peace.
My house is something of a horror show with lots of odd things on the floor and corners to run around and narrow halls and lanes. Still today I let it run long enough for it to return itself to the charger to juice it up. That’s a neat feature. Eventually I may get enough things put away that it can do the whole upstairs. It also does a decent job on the landings on the stairs.
I’m impressed that your cats don’t freak out about the Roomba. Mine would hide in terror.

I thought they would too, especially Gus who goes into the garage when the vac comes out…or even if a broom comes out. But even he isn’t too worried.
It is small and low and moves slow, and isn’t that noisy.

Since my tux cat often startles himself, a Roomba would be too much however slowly it moves.

Gus used to be like that as a youngun…he’d explode into panics and gouge holes in you and your clothes running off from a deep sleep at some car sound a mile off. He’s gotten over that, mostly.

Mine’s 7, so I’ve kinda given up him growing out of it. Maybe if he lives as long as Mr. Gus.

The kitties look most underwhelmed by the robot invasion! ..much like Dinnermintz who as I type is sitting on the arm of my chair staring at the snapcat app on my phone with utter boredom….no selfies today from the Ginger gal 😉

What? none of them sit on it and go for a ride? Now that would be fun, until it goes under the bed and knocks someone off!

I haven’t run it in the room we are hanging out in, so there hasn’t been a lot of interaction. They tend to retreat when it moves in their direction, but they don’t run off and hide like they do for the big vac.
