Into Each Life, Some Rain Must Fall…

And in Calpurnia’s case, this means getting turned upside-down in my lap.  She’s actually calmer now than she was when I first adopted her…but she still likes her feet pointing downward!

I was hoping her back feet, pointed straight out, would show up in contrast to her tucked-in front feet…not quite.

Remember Julie’s issue with finding a way around Calpurnia yesterday?  Today she did it again to him.  He decided to sit down right there to avoid getting into her exclusion zone.

This is a photo from yesterday from a few minutes after their scuffle.  Everything was cool!

Gus was there too…hiding behind me since it was too much trouble to find a way around me when Calla was close.  When she went and sat on the rocks, he was then able to find one of his own.

Julie took Calla’s original spot once he was able to get past her.

Love the first pic of Calla! Looks like she’s caught in a centrifuge. I can do a similar thing with Purdey but only if I’m ‘armed’ with a toy she can beat up at the same time, while upside down. Afterwards… watch out for your ankles!

I love this post. Really captures the individuals. Gorgeous one of Julie.

Love the look on her face!

One of my boys looks like Calpurnia when I hold him on his back (hind feet stretched straight out, back arched!), but the other cat just squirms and tries to get righted. An earlier cat lover to be held that way – if you rubbed his tummy! Ha!

Had you not told us why Calpurnia had that look, I would have guessed it correctly based on my cat experiences. As always, I enjoy the vignettes and excellent photography. Cats have rich social interactions many people don’t notice. Perhaps your blog will open some eyes to the possibilities!

Gus and Julie are more relaxed when held upside down, Julie is funny because he will sit there until he has enough, then hiss with no growls or squirms as warning.

I’ve seen that look in that situation before, but never quite as eloquently as Calla’s!

Mr. Gus knows when a battle is worth fighting and when it isn’t.
