Vet Check

Julie was not improved overnight, so I took him for a quick vet visit this morning.  They used UV light to look for any scratches and also searched foreign material under the extra eyelid.

They didn’t find any damage or any material in the eye.  Julie has has his eyes numbed and has medicine for me to put in for the next week to reduce swelling.

He looked a bit sad with all the tears from both eyes from drops that the vet added, but should be a lot more comfortable now.

Oh poor Julie! That can’t have done his dignity any good, but it sounds like you didn’t have any option. Hope he’s feeling a lot better soon!

I hope all goes well for both of you, with full recovery for poor Julie.

I’ve had to put eyedrops in one of my cat’s (Dougy’s) left eye when a couple of times he had an eye infection. The big part of it is convincing the cat it’s for his good, then immobilizing his head enough so he doesn’t move his head during the application of the drop.

I ended up using a bath towel, swaddling Dougy in that first, which kept all of his “pointy parts” immobilized as well as his head, then the job went smoothly.

However, once he associated the towel with… well, you know how that goes!

Anyway, I hope Julie is cooperative, responds well to the medication.

I’m not sure swaddling is the answer for Julius. I think I will be fine if I plonk him down and drop them in from above, with all four feet down on the floor

He was very good at the vet with all the drops and he might have already associated them with his eye hurting less.

I’ve only been scratched by Julius when he was in hunter mode with a toy, or me as the toy. He’s patient with being harassed otherwise.

Sending good vibes yours and Julies way in hopes that you are able to get the drops in and he improves immediately.
It takes two of us to get drops in Alis eyes or medication down her throat.

  4. We hope Julie is doing better soon.

  5. Poor Julie, I hope his eye starts feeling better soon. Treating it does not sound like any fun for either of you
