Remote Petting

It was a good day for a hike today so I took one I had not done in a while.  Instead of driving to a start point I walked from home uphill to a trailhead and this time combined two smaller hikes I had done before.  Nothing too crazy hard, but a bit longer than I have been doing – a bit over 10 miles total.

Then when I got home I realized I had forgotten to buy cat food and was out.  So I had to rest up some and walk to the grocery store across the street for more.

When I got to thinking about taking pictures, Julie had come home and was resting at the top of the stairs.  He does this goofy thing sometimes where he acts like he is being petted when nobody is touching him.

I enhanced the effect this time by scratching a step below where he was lying.

The accidental wild claws is a reason why remote petting is a bit safer than the real thing.

Why does he do it?  Some things must remain a mystery.
