Kittens on Parade

I let the kittens run out front a little tonight after work.  Rhea, of course, has been known to climb the walls of the back yard and get here on her own from time to time.  Julie, an older fellow, has his own routine and wanders a bit wider.

The front yard is a bit tiny, but it borders on the community pool so there is a larger area to explore that’s safe from most dangers.  The front area has some large trees, a little lawn on the side near the pool and a border of small bushes and ground cover between the lawn and the front path.

Davout here is in the middle area near my front walk by the trunk of a large pine tree.  You can see the needles hanging on the bushes.  Davout got one stuck on his foot because of a spot of sap and was spinning in circles like crazy trying to get rid of it.

A bit earlier he tried jumping over one of the bushes nearby a little smaller than this one. He was good on altitude, not so good on length and came down on the back of it.

The kittens near the pool entrance….

And a sign giving another reason why this is a good spot for kitties.  I’ve seen Julie drink from the pool.  The kittens seem a bit nervous about the water and keep a wide berth.

Much of the time the kittens like to stay near the edge of the shrubs rather than walk out in the open.  The other part of the time, though, they want to cross the street.  It’s the end of a cul-de-sac with little traffic, but I herd them back anyway.

Here’s a tummy shot for Tummy Rub Tuesday (next) at Katzenworld!

The kittens also want to go visit the neighbors front step or go even farther down the street, which I also discourage.  I have to rush to get ahead, and herd them back homeward.

Katzenworld's TRT Image

Thanks for the image, weggieboy!

I was invited to make a submission by Marc-Andre, but I had trouble getting the image here because it is linked in the blog elsewhere.  Luckily for me Weggieboy had gotten the image for his blog and I just used his link!

Rhea is so beautiful, and I love Davouts face and those big, blue, expressive eyes.
Beautiful pool and do you make use of it?
Have a good rest of the week.

    Aww they so cute

  3. Such beautiful kitties. I’d be too afraid to let Truffle and Brûlée explore outside because I wouldn’t be able to catch them if one decided to take off.

I have tried Rhea with a shoulder harness and leash and it didn’t spook her much and I had control. You’d probably need to do one at a time that way. They also make pet strollers where they are enclosed..

I like my cats to have at least enough outside experience that they run home if they get scared instead of away or hiding.
