News of a Kind

Pretty Girl.

I went to the other shelter in the next valley and saw all the cats.  None were Julie.  More news after the fold.

After pulling on the teaser, it snapped out of her mouth and zoomed away.  The camera almost caught her doing it.

When I got home I went searching around the edges of the street’s development.  It is mostly walled or fenced and I’d already searched my side, so today I looked at the boundary with the next block over.  The individual duplexes don’t extend all the way back, there is an area of common lot behind the small yards of the individual owners.

Having worked my way most of the way I was talking to some neighbors when another neighbor, Ron, came up.  He said he had seen a cat being attacked by a coyote on the street on Saturday night.  He charged the animal and it dropped the cat and moved back.  He said the cat didn’t seem badly hurt, and was hissing at the attackers.  He went to drive off the coyote even farther, and when he came back, the cat was gone.

He had some pictures and the cat was Julie.

It gives me a place to start, and a reason for him going missing.  He may have gone to ground somewhere he considers safe in the area.  He might be waiting there, or he might have died there.

  1. I don’t know whether to be sad or hopeful. Here’s hoping Julie is just scared and hiding someplace.

Like the others on here, I really hope that Julie has just gone to ground and either makes his way back to you, or that you can find him. Still hoping for a happy outcome.

We know, now, it seems — I feel comforted by the presence of Ron to help Julie, to witness and to tell you, and somewhat comforted by the certainty, the pictures — and so so sad and horrified to imagine Julie going through that terror — and now we wait. May your other furkins comfort you.

Purrs of love sent to you, hoping Julius is scared and hiding. Please don’t give up looking no matter what! Maybe let the neighborhood know he is possibly injured to be on the lookout? Do keep the others inside or only out when supervised being a coyote is in the area. Paws crossed, we feel for you.
