Again, Memories

A few of you mentioned that you liked seeing old pictures of Gus from when he was young.  There aren’t a lot, and most aren’t that good, but today is a good day for looking at them.

This is Gus as a teenage kitten, in late 1997.  Note he’s missing his ruff.  This picture is actually a scan of a ancient color printer copy of a photo.  I was seeing if this was cheaper or better than getting photo copies made.  I’m not sure where the originals have gone.

The fridge is the same, but this is in the apartment I lived in before moving to this house in 2000.

Here he is a few months later, sleeping.

And as a ferocious hunter in 1998.

These shots have been on the blog before, years ago.  I forget the exact date, but it is after the move here.

Here we skip ahead to 2009,  I think, when he got a Lion Cut.

This is from Julie’s first day here in 2002, some 6 months after Cassie died.

I think this is also from 2002.

And this is about 10 years later, in 2012.

Gus was 17 years old last year when he, like Cassie had after her 20th, decided it was time to depart.  The circumstances were almost identical and so were the results – Gus passed away overnight in the vet’s office last year, on April 16th.

We all still miss him every day.

  1. While reading these ‘Memory’ posts, the song “Photograph” by Ringo Starr keeps playing in my head. It must be nice to bring out these pictures, though sometimes seeing photos of my old cats and dog make me teary-eyed. Even though it’s been almost seven years since my last cat died, I still miss them all.

I doubt anyone reading this is dry-eyed. We all miss our departed furbuddies, but it is great to be able to see them again in video and photo. Thanks for showing us your historic photos of Gus. He was such a handsome kitty, even in old age, as were our others.

The young lion! (Even when un-maned) That profile! Those claws!

And what a tiny scrap of Julie.
