Jailbird

Again Anna had her visitors today.  She tolerated me and Harrison pretty well.

Harrison went right for some leftover wet food and ate most of it.

The kittens came to the gate, and Rhea hung back for a bit but was looking like she might jump up at Anna.  I realized then I had forgotten the medicine so I shooed her out and downstairs and got the medicine into both her and Anna.

With that done I remembered an idea I had had some time ago.  I put Rhea in a carrier near where the action is and then brought Anna out into some of the other rooms to explore.  While she isn’t totally fine with anybody, at least there seems little chance of true sparks flying with Davout or Harrison.

It went well enough.  Anna soon was confident Rhea couldn’t get out.  Rhea made some interesting bobbing moves when Anna came close but was not too upset.  Anna did a little exploring in some rooms for several minutes.

After she went back to her room I brought Rhea and the carrier in to ‘confront’ her.  There was some mild growling and grumble meows mostly from Anna.  When she did that I slid the carrier back a few inches which seemed to help the confidence.

Rhea was a little miffed at being closed in, but after all this when I gave her some treats in the carrier she did eat them.  I didn’t let her out until I closed Anna away to avoid any retaliation.  She was doing arched back mutual stalks with Davout just now so she seems OK now.

Harrison approves of the chance to filch food.  When he’s hungry, he eats a lot.

  1. Wow, that is a really good idea! I bet Anna enjoyed looking around. Rhea is just going to have to learn how to not be so aggressive, silly girl!

Awww, Rhea will get better. Crate training cats and dogs has a really good relaxing benefit on all animals in the house.
