The vet visit for Rhea and Harrison was uneventful. The vet gave Harrison something to try and boost his appetite based on the idea that his issues were just part of the ups and downs of his digestive issues. But when I came home after work Harrison had collapsed.
I managed to get into the vets again and after making him more comfortable we did some tests and there were signs of serious, multiple organ failures. He was dying, and I let him go.
Now he is at peace, and we are the ones who suffer.
It helps that he surely would not have lasted long if I hadn’t taken him in, and that he enjoyed his ten months here. I will miss him very much.

I’d become infatuated with Harrison from the first time you featured his pictures on your blog. To hear of his passing is profoundly sad, but I’m grateful he spent his last months of life with you. My thoughts are with you and Harrison tonight.

I am soaking in your open-heartedness in taking in and caring for this little being through to the end, always, I’m sure, aware of the possibility that it might end like this. On my birthday. “Now he is at peace, and we are the ones who suffer.” So sad.

Oh, no! You know how much I loved the tough little guy. He fought as best he could. You made his last months much nicer (and gave him more of them).

Oh noes! So sorry for you and the other kitties. Harrison seemed like a wee ambassador sometimes. I was certainly pulling for his eventual recovery.

He certainly was afraid of nothing. But from experience there is a way that a sick cat refuses food that usually means things are serious. And the quick blood tests confirmed a lot of problems

Harrison was a sweet liitle guy and while I am quite saddened to know he’s gone, I am glad that he got to spend the last ten months in a place where he was well cared for, and most importantly, loved.

10 months? He had heaven on earth at home with you for 10 whole months!! You ROCK! You really do. He looks a lovely cat, and I wish he could have stayed longer with you.
Small words I know but THANK YOU for being there for a cat in need. We have lost cats we took on as fospice cares, picked up as frail dumped souls, and like you no matter how sort or long their visit they have a place in our hearts that they do not give up.

Oh no! I am so sorry to find out about Harrison! Just from reading your blog regularly, I really felt like I got to know the little guy. I’m going to miss reading updates about him. At least you were able to give him a good, loving home in the final few months of his life.
