Since You’ve Been Gone

A year ago this weekend Calpurnia was stricken with her fatal illness.  She was very anemic and she had a transfusion and came back home but it was more and more clear she was not rallying. The next day, very early, I went back to the emergency clinic and let her go.

Thinking about that day still cuts deep, but I do think of the other days in the years I had her with me.  As time goes by more and more visitors have never seen the old posts and pictures, and with a more than a thousand posts to look through I can understand why they would not catch up.  I think I need to do more with my archives and bring them up from time to time.

Original Post: Calpurnia Week

This picture is from her gotcha anniversary in 2013.  I was playing around with an LED light and my high zoom camera to get a no flash inside picture of her sleeping on the couch.  Calla has the most incredible eyes, and her facial blaze makes her a lot more easy to take a facial shot that it is with Davout.  Maybe the LED light would help that some too.

Original Post: Weekend End

When I was looking at some posts for pictures, I saw an aside that complained about not being able to find the picture I wanted of Calla.  I rather think this one is the one I was originally looking for.  This has to go on the short list of Calla looking like Calla.  The proud tail, the little white feet, and on the rocks in the backyard she was the most comfortable in….even more than inside.

If you click through to the original post, there are also some good shots of Gus and Julie.

This is a more normal look for Calpurnia, in the evening inside with rounder eyes.  I think she was in the process of washing a back foot.

Original Post:  An Award is Out There

That post is a bit meh.

  1. While I haven’t been following your blog all that long, I think Calpurnia was my favorite of your cats. Seeing her beautiful pictures here makes me wistful and sad that she’s not here any longer, but I’m glad you posted them. She was a gorgeous lady, and much missed.

A sad post, yet one I’m glad you reposted these photos of your beautiful Calpurnia. It’s good to remember where we’ve been, joys along the way. I hope you do share more photos of her and the others. They are with us too short a time, so treasure them each day, I say!

Our fates are tied together, and all we can do is make sure the time we have together with out kitties is the happiest, healthiest, best time we can provide them till they go to their reward.
